It’s not just the bridal parties that can add up, but I will start with her first.

Since I have been in multiple weddings over the past 10 years or so, I’ve learned how hard it can be to keep up with the budgeting of these parties. Bridal shower, bachelorette party, sometimes even engagement party – they can really add up. But they don’t have to be detrimental to your overall plan of providing your bride with the best pre-wedding moments of her life.

Keep it simple

You know your bride, and you know what she likes, so my first suggestion is to keep things simple. Not everyone needs to fly to Vegas for their bachelorette (or bachelor) party. Think of her personality and find a way to incorporate those things into a simple day trip to a spa, amusement park, baseball game, or wine tasting. If you’re concerned about a driver, find a friend or family member who would be willing to forgo the booze for the day so you don’t have to worry about renting a limo.

Keep it home

You don’t have to go out to have fun – bring the party home! If she’s up for it, plan a house party with just the girls for dinner, drinks, and gossip. Rent some video games or a few movies, have a drink making contest, bring your old yearbook and old funny pictures .. you get the point. Nothing is better than reminiscing with your old friends.

Keep it local

Take advantage of what’s around you. Do you live near the beach? Mountains? Open fields? City streets? Use those to your advantage! Picnics, hikes, laying around near the water (on or off a boat) or just meeting up to browse the local scenes are great cheap ways to have fun with your bridal party. Go bowling, play mini golf, find an indoor rock climbing studio. Hit up a karaoke bar and turn it into a bachelorette Idol party. Do she like sports? Hit up a game if you have a team nearby to cheer on, or just hit up a local sports bar to watch the big game.

If she likes surprises, make it into a scavenger hunt using some of the ideas above – again, only if she likes surprises!

Have you planned a bachelorette party on a budget? What did you do?
